12 counties are participating in a new kiosk program that lets drivers renew their plates. According to our local DMV managers, Mesa County was the second county to join the program.

Since then, managers say, more than 5,000 people have taken advantage of the self-serve option.

“They couldn’t use it if their vehicle requires emissions testing in those other counties that are participating, or if their insurance isn’t up to date, they won’t be able to use it. If they have disability plates they need to recertify, that’s another thing they won’t be able to do on the kiosk,” said Bobbie Gross, Mesa County Motor Vehicle Manager.

The counties participating in the kiosk program are as follows: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Douglas, El Paso, Freemont, Jefferson, La Plata, Larimer, Mesa and Weld Counties.

Gross says if you can use an ATM, you can use one of these kiosks. You’ll just have to pay a $3 service fee.
