At airports, program members proceed to DHS Kiosk or Global Entry kiosks, present their machine-readable passport or U.S. permanent resident card, place their fingerprints on the scanner for fingerprint verification and complete a customs declaration. The kiosk issues the traveler a transaction receipt, complete with the passenger’s passport photo, and directs the traveler to a CBP agent and then on to baggage claim and the exit.
Travelers must be pre-approved for the Global Entry program. Called the Trusted Traveler program, all applicants must undergo a rigorous background check, followed by an in-person interview before they are permitted to enroll. The cost is $100.00 for a five-year pass.
