FREDERICK, Md., June 4, 2019 – Kiosk Group Inc. (KGI) has announced the appointment of Karla Guarino as Director, Sales & Marketing. Ms. Guarino’s assignment is the latest of several strategic steps designed to grow the company to better serve the rapidly-expanding global market for interactive kiosks and related software.

Ms. Guarino will be responsible for top-line growth, expanding into new markets with interactive touchscreens, software and remote kiosk management. “Karla’s stellar reputation across the industry is strategically wide and tactically deep,” said Mike James, KGI’s founder and chief engineer.

Privately-held KGI develops and markets a wide range of solutions for hundreds of customers. Kiosk Marketplace Census Report values the global market at $9.22 billion (2018) with a compound average growth rate approaching 18%.

1. What do you want to achieve?
If you’re a restaurant operator, do you plan to add self-order kiosks to speed throughput and improve the guest experience?

For a retailer, maybe the plan is to expand a store’s offering by incorporating an “endless aisle” kiosk where customers can order items not in the physical inventory and have them shipped to their home—increasing sales in the process.

2. How will you measure ROI?
Although it may seem simple on the surface, measuring the
return on investment from a kiosk deployment can be a
complicated affair. Having a way to calculate ROI can help a
business determine whether a kiosk is worthwhile or if that
investment is best left in the bank.

Factors to consider when calculating a kiosk’s costs should
include the initial equipment and setup costs, staff training,
software development and infrastructure support. For a
self-order or transactional kiosk, those figures would be
compared with the additional profits from increased sales
and lowered labor costs.

3. What is your definition of success?
Once a method for calculating ROI is determined, establishing goals for metrics such as increased sales, reductions in labor costs and improvements in guest satisfaction scores is critical for determining if a kiosk deployment is a success.

Military Tablet Wars: Windows Gaining on Apple

The consumer tablet market tends to be an Apple versus Android battle, but in the government sector it is Apple against Microsoft, according to new report. 

Microsoft is seeking to challenge Apple’s iPad command of the nearly $100 million defense and government tablet market by customizing devices to meet specific needs. “Windows tablets have eaten into iPad’s market share by adapting to customer requirements,” says a study by the federal contracting data firm Govini.
