Germany’s second-largest cinema chain deploys new omni-channel strategy. Customers benefit from new features, quick check-out process and an improved service concept.
The kiosk would be provided to Maricopa High School at no charge. The company then checks with local businesses to see if anyone would like to advertise products. The advertisement money pays SkoolLive, but a portion of the profits go to the school as well (calculated to be between $200 and $500 per month, per kiosk).
“We take full responsible for the advertising,” Warren said, “We hope local businesses will be interested and hear about us through their kids, but the responsibility is all on us. Even if we can’t get a single advertiser, we still honor the life of the contract (three years).”
The school would be able to control each kiosk separately. They would have complete control over 50 percent of the screen on each individual kiosk. The top and bottom 25 percent of the screen are reserved for advertisements. The advertisements have to be approved by the school before they are displayed on the kiosk.
Elo is pleased to announce the new 7001LT 70” Interactive Digital Signage display featuring 10-touch infrared capability. The 7001LT is a high-quality, interactive canvas for engaging shoppers; and for office meeting collaboration. A new video input auto-detect feature will switch the display to the last good video input signal from the internal computer module or other external video sources. The 7001LT offers system integrators and value-added resellers (VARs) a high performance solution that is easy to deploy and maintain in public environments. With a total thickness of 3.7 inches (94 mm), the 7001LT is ADA and IBC compliant for wall-mounted installations. State of the art full HD display and video technology is utilized including a high contrast/brightness LED-backlit LCD panel, extended color gamut with movie/ gaming/photo modes, black level adjustment, and on-screen menu enhancements.
Optional, high performance computer modules are available which turn the 7001LT into a completely integrated all-in-one computer—without the need for any cables or additional mounting hardware. Computer modules are available in a choice of two models: ECMG2-i3, based on a 3.3GHz Intel Core i3 processor and graphics.

Walmart’s top payments executive told a conference last week that letting banks issue EMV credit cards without PINs makes a mockery of EMV security, CNN Money
But card brands Visa and MasterCard, which are allowing banks to issue PIN-free credit cards, argue that the security improvements aren’t worth the high cost of retrofitting credit card-processing systems.
Ericksen added that chip-and-PIN “will have a shorter shelf life. We’re moving to new technologies and innovation,” she said, including point-to-point encryption and the tokenization that underlies Apple Pay. Both those technologies hide actual payment-card numbers from both retailers and cyberthieves, and banks and card brands hope those technologies will become mainstream payment methods within the next few years.
The Drexel University in Philadelphia has installed vending machines that contain iPads which can be rented by students through the use of their library cards. The program was launched to boost the students’ literacy through digital learning.
One piece to the puzzle that might keep banks paying into Apple’s platform is that customers seem to use credit cards more often on Apple Pay. According to Phoenix, 82 percent of Apple Pay users linked a credit card to their accounts, and 53 percent linked a debit card. “Among those that linked both a credit and a debit card to Apple Pay, 67 percent reported that the credit card was the first-card—thus becoming the default card.” Phoenix wrote. “56 percent rarely or never change the default when making a purchase.”
That behavior is interesting on a number of levels, not least because when a credit card is used, banks get higher interchange fees and consumers are better protected from fraud by federal credit card regulations. The only party losing out is the retailers. (Well, until they pass the costs back on to the customer). “Banks always prefer cardholders utilize credit for the higher interchange the banks receive,” Sloane wrote to Ars. “Consumers often pick credit over debit for higher risk transactions since credit has greater protections under [Regulation] Z. Mercator consumer data indicates that many smartphone owners are not confident that the smartphone is safe for payments, which may incline them to enable credit cards before debit cards (or maybe it’s for the rewards!).”
A US trade group is asking the payment-card industry to delay the October EMV transition plan that will leave the retail food stores and pharmacies it represents liable for fraudulent transactions if they are unable to meet the deadline.
FMI sent letter to VISA/MC asking for 2016. Retail food stores and pharmacies will not be able to meet 2015 deadline.
Along with the cost of updating their equipment, merchants face a 16-week delay for delivery of EMV-enabled card readers, the letter said. The group of American retailers also fears that the introduction of chip cards will cause larger checkout queues during the run up to the holiday season.

A marketing stunt by Uber’s Toronto-based team appears to be going down well with the folk there, but hey, it involves free rides, so what’s not to like? The company’s marketing team clearly enjoys coming up with novel ideas to grab the headlines – in 2013 it teamed up with Home Depot to deliver Christmas trees direct to homes, and before that it offered on-demand ice cream trucks in several cities.
